Collaborating With Madness

Dr. Paul McHugh, University Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University, “Surgical Sex: Why We Stopped Doing Sex Change Operations,” 2004:

A TransGender-Symbol Plain3“I have witnessed a great deal of damage from sex-reassignment. The children transformed from their male constitution into female roles suffered prolonged distress and misery as they sensed their natural attitudes. Their parents usually lived with guilt over their decisions—second-guessing themselves and somewhat ashamed of the fabrication, both surgical and social, they had imposed on their sons. As for the adults who came to us claiming to have discovered their “true” sexual identity and to have heard about sex-change operations, we psychiatrists have been distracted from studying the causes and natures of their mental misdirections by preparing them for surgery and for a life in the other sex. We have wasted scientific and technical resources and damaged our professional credibility by collaborating with madness rather than trying to study, cure, and ultimately prevent it.”

The Christian Contribution to Medicine

Ampule and syringe.Stories of Christian caring had enormous impact, even before Constantine’s decree of toleration. Clement, a Christian leader in Rome at the end of the first century of the Christian era, records how the Christian community was already doing much to relieve the plight of poor widows. In the second century when plague hit the City of Carthage, pagan households threw sufferers onto the streets. The entire Christian community, personally led by their bishop, responded. They were seen on the streets, offering comfort and taking them into their own homes to be cared for. A few decades after Constantine, Julian, who came to power in AD 355, was the last Roman Emperor to try to re-institute paganism. In his Apology, Julian said that if the old religion wanted to succeed, it would need to care for people even better than the way Christians cared.

Christians have consistently raised the social status of the weak, sick and handicapped and sought to love and care for them to the utmost of their abilities. Christians have been pioneers among hospital building and staffing, in research and ethics, in promoting increased standards of care, and in immunology, public health and preventative medicine. They have carried Western Medicine across the globe and improved the quality of life for countless millions of people.

The Lady with the Lamp

Florence Nightingale headshot

Few people realise the enormous debt which the whole world owes to Florence Nightingale. This courageous Reformer transformed hospitals and pioneered the modern nursing profession. No other person in history has done more to alleviate suffering and establish so high a standing of health care for the sick.

Before Florence Nightingale the condition of hospitals and the nursing profession was in a degraded state. Hospitals were dirty and over crowded. Antiseptics were unknown. Scarcely any facilities for the training of nurses existed, and their pay was less than that for a common labourer in the field. Nurses were drawn from the “undesirable sections” of society and were commonly regarded as “vulgar”, “uneducated”, “unclean” and notorious for their drunkenness and immorality.

Florence Nightingale’s writings on hospital planning and organisation had a profound impact on health care worldwide. Her far sighted reforms saved innumerable lives and established nursing as a respectable profession.

After a most productive life, at age 90, Florence Nightingale died on 13 August 1910 . Over 1,000 nurses and many veterans of the Crimean War attended her funeral service at St. Paul ’s in London . Lord Stanley delivered this eulogy: “I know of no person besides Miss Nightingale who, within the past 100 years…has voluntarily encountered dangers so imminent, and undertaken offices so repulsive, working for a large and worthy object, in a pure spirit of duty towards God and compassion for man.”

Here are some older vaccine-related articles that I have come across lately:

And one new one:

Female Doctors Negatively Impacting Socialized Medicine?

Something to think about from a leading UK surgeon:

I fear this gender imbalance is already having a negative effect on the NHS.

The reason is that most female doctors end up working part-time — usually in general practice — and then retire early.

As a result, it is necessary to train two female doctors so they can cover the same amount of work as one full-time colleague.

Given that the cost of training a doctor is at least £500,000, are taxpayers getting the best return on their investment?

Now don’t get your knickers in a knot.  The solution isn’t necessarily to keep women out of medicine as many might assume; It could be to change the way medical education is funded, ie. change or remove government control of the healthcare system.

Vaccines Around the Web, November 22, 2013

A doctor I know has informed me that he has never ever had a patient have any sort of negative reaction to a vaccination.  In this, he claims an even higher success rate than the vaccine manufacturers do in the informational pamphlets that accompany their vaccines.  Since I have family members who have had severe reactions to vaccines (including anaphylactic reactions to vaccine ingredients the doctor knew they were allergic to prior to the vaccines being administered), information about the possible risks of vaccinations is of interest to me.

Here are some recent links regarding vaccinations that caught my eye:

Whooping cough, or pertussis, has exploded in the United States in recent years. A new study confirms what scientists have suspected for some time: The return of the disease is caused by the introduction of new, safer vaccines 2 decades ago. Although they have far fewer side effects, the new shots don’t offer long-lived protection the way older vaccines do.

All trials of the vaccines were done on children aged 15 and above, despite them currently being marketed for 9-year-olds. So far, 15,037 girls have reported adverse side effects from Gardasil alone to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (V.A.E.R.S.), and this number only reflects parents who underwent the hurdles required for reporting adverse reactions.

At the time of writing, 44 girls are officially known to have died from these vaccines. The reported side effects include Guillian Barré Syndrome (paralysis lasting for years, or permanently — sometimes eventually causing suffocation), lupus, seizures, blood clots, and brain inflammation. Parents are usually not made aware of these risks.

Dr. Little carried out numerous tests on the girl, including checking hormone levels and internal organ function, and diagnosed her as having “premature ovarian failure.” She also found that the girl had no living egg cells.

After investigating other possible causes of the girl’s premature ovarian failure, Dr. Little was left with the Gardasil vaccination as the only remaining explanation.

A summary review of data on neurological adverse events and the historical role of vaccination in the natural course of infectious disease in Switzerland and Germany, supports data from other regions with evidence that vaccines had no impact on disease prevention efforts from the early-mid to late 20th century. The data contradicts widespread misinformation campaigns by mainstream medicine which claim that vaccination led to immunization and a subsequent decline in infectious disease. The review supports other data around the world and mounting evidence that vaccine effectiveness is unproven, unjustified and lacking evidence-based medicine. The report was authored by the Department of Pediatric Rehabilitation of the Medical University of Bialystok, Poland and published in Progress in Health Sciences a division of The International Journal of Health Sciences.

The paper has launched its horrific, anti-human-rights campaign, “NO JAB NO PLAY” that demands children who are not vaccinated with state-mandated chemicals (which include mercury, formaldehyde, aluminum and other toxins) be denied interaction with other children.
